Brazilian buttlift surgery recovery period

The post-operative care is a very important part of achieving your final results. The Brazilian butt lift has become extremely popular because it allows your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape.

You improve your waist, hips and of course your buttock. The area where the fat is harvested (liposuction) is sore but typically patients don’t have a lot of pain.

Patients also typically do not have a lot of pain in the buttock where the fat is placed. It is difficult for patients to get comfortable the first few days after the surgery, as they are sore in multiple places.

The difficult part of the recover is that I do not allow patients to sit for the first two weeks after the surgery. The fat needs time to heal and become part of your buttock.

During this time patients may lie on their stomach, stand and walk, but they need to avoid sitting as much as possible. For six weeks I have patients is a special compression garment that helps shape the buttock and compress the areas that have been liposuctioned. In general of the procedures that I perform this is one where patients tend to be universally extremely happy.

The recovery process for a Brazilian Butt lift with fat filling is 4 weeks. After surgery you will be required to wear a compression garment for two weeks at all times. In addition, you will not be able to sit on your buttocks for two weeks.

This means you will be sleeping on your stomach and sitting on the toilet for very limited amounts of time. After the first two weeks, you will be allowed to sit for limited amounts of time, but you will still be wearing the compression garment. After four weeks the garment is worn at bedtime only for an additional 2 weeks.

I recommend my patients to take 2 weeks off from work and activities in order to have a good recovery and better outcome. Although in some cases patients have to back to work before the 2 weeks in those cases I recommend at least 5 to 7 days.

The usual recovery time is 2-3 weeks. It is harvesting the fat via liposuction that causes the most discomfort from this procedure. The actual injection of fat can be painful, however this is less than the actual harvesting of the area. Most patients can go back to their normal activity after a few weeks.

Recovery for the Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery is usually about 7-10 days. I recommend no exercise or heavy lifting for 4-6 weeks after surgery. You should expect overall soreness and swelling. Also, you may experience some bruising. It is generally well tolerated.

Patients will need to allow 14 days or 2 weeks for recovery. You should not sit for prolonged periods of time for the first 2 weeks after surgery.

Minimizing the pressure on that area allows the fat cells time to attach to the blood supply in the buttocks and remain viable. The areas that are liposuctioned should also be in a compression garment to help the skin retract as much as possible after the fatty deposits are removed.

I request my patients wear their garment for 6 weeks to get the maximum benefit. Normal activities such as working out are normally allowed after 4 to 6 weeks but be sure to consult with your board certified plastic surgeon before resuming any strenuous activities.

The usual recovery for a Brazilian Butt lift is 1 to 2 weeks depending on the extent of the liposuction performed to harvest fat. You will have bruising in the areas where the lipo was performed, but you likely will not have pain where the fat was injected into the buttocks.

Just soreness when sitting. Remember, internet conversations cannot replace an in-person consultation. The recovery is the same as that for liposuction, about 4-7 days, but the difference is that you should not sit directly on the buttocks for two weeks, and then you should minimize pressure with a pillow under the thighs for another four weeks.

This keeps pressure off the transferred fat cells and allows better survival. You wear a compression garment just as in liposuction. There is mild discomfort for which you can take ibuprofen with norco in reserve. The overall resolution of swelling and determination of what degree of fat survival you will have takes about three months.
