Prof. Dr. Yalçın Yontar completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara between 1990-2002 and his master’s degree at Eskişehir Osmangazi University School of Medicine between 2002-2008. In the 2008 September Term Medical Specialization Exam, he was entitled to receive specialization training at Erciyes University School of Medicine, Department of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
​He completed his residency program in 2014 with a thesis titled “Correction of rabbit ear concavity with a scoring incision alone or in combination with cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive.” This study was published in 2017 in “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery,” the official journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which is considered one of the most prestigious plastic surgery journals. Following completion of his residency program, he performed his compulsory service duty as a consultant at Balıklıgöl State Hospital and Şanlıurfa Mehmet Akif İnan Training and Research Hospital, respectively, between 2014 and 2015. During this period, he was particularly interested in war surgery, and his novel surgical techniques were published in SCI-expanded indexed journals such as “Burns,” “Journal of Burn Care & Research,” “Journal of Investigative Surgery,” “Plastic Surgery,” “Dermatologic Surgery.” In 2016 and 2021, he was featured as an invited author in three reviews regarding burn trauma and necrotizing soft tissue infections in “Turkiye Klinikleri Plastic Surgery – Special Topics” and “Turkiye Klinikleri Intensive Care – Special Topics.” Also, he took place as an invited author in a chapter about frostbite in ”Orthopedics and Traumatology” published under the editorship of Prof. Dr. Vedat Şahin. In 2020, he translated the chapter titled ”Lower Abdominal Wall Reconstruction with Lateral Thigh Based Flaps” in ”Flaps in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery” published under the editorship of Kevin C. Chung. Between 2019 and 2021, he served as the Central Anatolian Regional Representative of the Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Dr. Yontar acts as a referee in many national and international scientific journals and participates in scientific organizations, and the reconstructive surgical procedures he has performed are frequently featured in the written and visual media.
​Starting to work at Kayseri Training and Research Hospital in 2015, Dr. Yontar left this position in 2018 and worked as a staff physician at Acıbadem Kayseri Hospital until 2021. Dr. Yontar received the title of ”Associate Professor” in 2020 and he has been working with his wife, Dr. Efşan Gürbüz Yontar, at the ”YONTAR Aesthetics®” since 2021.
