Looking for plastic surgeon who assit interns during surgery like Mount Sinai in NY which offer low
Nassau University Medical Center
Apr 8, 2015
You can try the plastic surgery resident clinic at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. They used to cover both cosmetic and reconstructive cases and were supervised by some excellent attending surgeons.
REDNESS in front of ears 1 week post MACS facelift, but no sign of infection. What is this?! (photo
Likely a blood flow issue.
Apr 8, 2015
I agree with the other surgeons in feeling that this red areas represent skin where the blood flow is compromised. I suspect that if this photo is from 7 days after surgery, there is a reasonable chance that the skin may recover. The pleat next to your eye is a little unusual in its depth. Sometimes, there is some subtle pleating that softens within several weeks. The redness on your ear may be related to infection, so be sure to follow up with your surgeon.
I Had a Full Tummy Tuck Done but my Doctor Never Did Drainage After the Operation is It Ok Not to Have Dr
Depends on the technique.
May 2, 2012
Many plastic surgeons elect to place drains in after an abdominoplasty to help prevent the formation of a fluid collection called a seroma. Some surgeons feel that using a special suturing technique to help sew the abdominal skin back down to the muscle can help prevent the formation of a seroma. In those cases, they may not use a drain. If you didn't get a fluid collection after your surgery, then it must have worked out OK.
My Expander Has a Leak, What Can Be Done for Proper Expanding?
May need a replacement
Dec 1, 2011
Sorry to hear that you're having problems with your expander. If your expander is unable to maintain it's volume, you will need to replace it. Occasionally, someone has a collection of fluid (seroma) that is in front of the expander. After an expansion, some of that fluid may come out, mimicking a leak. However, when that happens, you still maintain the volume of your expander. Sounds like you should speak to your surgeon about changing the expander.
Can Infection from a Breast Aug Travel to Another Part of the Body, Like the Finger?
Breast implant infection
Nov 9, 2011
It sounds like you've been through a lot with your breast augmentation. It seems unlikely that an infection in your finger developed from past breast implant infections. You should see a physician about your finger to ensure that that infection doesn't spread elsewhere. It is possible that an infection in a remote location such as your finger could result in "seeding" of bacteria on your implant, so make sure that your finger infection gets treated promptly.
Bloody and Draining Navel 5 Years After Tummy Tuck
Tummy tuck complications
Nov 9, 2011
It is a little concerning that you have had an ongoing problem for the last five years. As others have pointed out, the green suture was probably a permanent suture used to help sew the muscles back together. In a best case scenario, this will cause your infections to cease. However, since this has been an ongoing problem, the other permanent sutures may be colonized with bacteria. This may be difficult to correct without removing all of the infected/colonized suture material. You should see...
Is It Common To Have So Many Problems With Breast Reconstruction Or Is It Just A Fluke?
Problems with breast reconstruction
Oct 25, 2011
Unfortunately, complications can occur during breast reconstruction. Often, it is a process that can require multiple revisions to obtain the end result you are looking for. Depending on the thickness of your mastectomy flaps, you can have a variable amount of visible rippling. There may be other things that can be done to help including fat grafting, use of allograft, or use of flaps. Talk to your plastic surgeon about your options. Getting another opinion is also very reasonable. Good luck.
If I Remove my Fibroadenoma Could Breast Reconstruction Help?
Plastic surgeons can help with partial mastectomy and lumpectomy defects
Oct 1, 2011
Removing a large fibroadenoma will can leave you with a visible deformity of the breast. To correct this a plastic surgeon can utilize differerent techniques to fill the defect, including rearrangement of local breast tissue, flaps, and fat grafting. You may want to speak with your breast surgeon to see what plastic surgeon he or she normally works with in order to get an opinion.

In some patients with very large breasts who are candidate for breast reduction, the plastic surgeon can...
