I'm sorry to hear about your hernia problems. Complex hernia repairs are usually covered by insurance. A panniculectomy (which only removes excess skin below the belly button) is occasionally covered if you meet certain criteria, and criteria differs between insurance companies. An abdominoplasty, which includes removal of skin above the belly button, is never covered. It can, however, be added on for a cosmetic fee at the time of your hernia...
