Vaping prior to surgery
Oct 24, 2018
I would presume your doctor is concerned about the nicotine in the product. I would check with your plastic surgeon if vaping with 0% is acceptable.
Average Cost for Restylane Under Eye Fillers?
Under eye filler
Oct 24, 2018
Pplacing a filler in the tear troughs requires a certain amount of skill. You are paying for the product but also for the skill of the injector. I would say in my practice $700-800 would be the minimum amount it would cost, but the maximum would not exceed $1200.
How much recovery time do I need if I were to go under the muscle transaxillary incision for br
Activity restrictions after breast augmentation
Sep 5, 2018
As you can see from the responses from the various doctors, everybody has a slightly different regimen when it comes to post-op care.  I would go by what your operating physician tells you. I personally restrict aerobic activity and heavy lifting for 2 weeks after surgery. When the implants are placed under the muscle, I prohibit push-ups, bench presses and "flies" for 3 months.I treat many nurses in my practice and most will be back to work in 2 weeks, or sometimes sooner, but with some re...
Does this look like a hematoma? Also please look at the incision. Is it normal?
Do I have a hematoma?
Sep 5, 2018
Hello and thank you for your question. I am sorry that your situation is causing so much worry. Believe it or not we also worry a lot about our patients.   You do appear to have a moderate amount of bruising, but if your plastic surgeon was not concerned that you have a hematoma, then I wouldn't worry about that. A hematoma is usually accompanied by increased swelling and pain on that side. The glue is not what is holding you together -- there are probably 2 or 3 layers of sutures under th...

Do a lift at the same time as explantation?
Aug 13, 2018
Thank you for your question. The answer of course depends on what the breasts look like now. If the nipple is not pointing downward and if the majority of the breast tissue is above the crease, then you can probably get by without a lift. If you need a lift, then the advantage of doing it all at once is that you only have to go through surgery once. If you are unsure, there is no harm to removing the implants and waiting to see what happens. It is not more difficult to do later. I have been ...
How come NOT many plastic surgeons have the “Ideal” implant?
Why don't more surgeons offer the Ideal Implant
Aug 13, 2018
That is a very good question, since in many ways it truly is the "ideal" implant. One reason may be just the habit of the surgeon. Ideal is the newest of the implants available, although it has been in use since 2009 and now has a very good track record. Often surgeons are resistant to change and don't like to learn new procedures if they feel what they have been doing is working for them. However if you consider the patient, then I think a plastic surgeon needs to offer the Ideal Implant...
What has happened to my implant?
What has happened to my implant?
Aug 9, 2018
To me it looks like you have the "waterfall" effect, where the implant is held up by the muscle and the breast more or less falls off the muscle. This may have gotten worse due to an increase in scar buildup around the implant. You need to see a board certified plastic surgeon to help diagnose what is going on and recommend a course of action.
Why do my implants look like this?
Why do my implants look this way?
Aug 9, 2018
I am sorry to hear about your problems. I know it must be frustrating for you.To me it looks like the distance between the nipples and the crease where the breast joins the chest wall was short to begin with.  Also it appears from the pictures that the pocket needs to be lowered. Careful dimensional analysis, taking measurements of your chest and breast, can direct you to the proper implant. Maybe you need a smaller one or one with a narrower base. Since it has been 4 months since your su...
Pain 3 months post op, could this be a muscle strain?
Pain 3 months after breast augmentation
Aug 7, 2018
I have my patients refrain from doing any push-ups, "flies," or chest presses for 3 months after a submuscular augmentation.  At seven weeks, if you did some of these exercises, or any that put stress on the pectoral muscles, that could explain the pain. I would check with your surgeon if it is OK to take anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen or naproxen.
When to Stop Drinking Alcohol Prior to Surgery?
When to stop drinking before a rhinoplasty?
Aug 6, 2018
You ask a very pertinent question. The nose is a very vascular area of the body, meaning that it has an excellent blood supply. Too much bleeding can interfere with the ability to see during surgery. Red wine contains chemicals that can interfere with the ability to form clots, and so I have my patients refrain from drinking red wine for at least 24 hours prior to surgery. Drinking large amounts of alcohol can harm the liver, even in the short run. This also can lead to bleeding problems....
One of my Breasts is Harder Than the Other - Why?
Why would one breast be hard 2 years after breast implant surgery
Jul 19, 2018
You may be developing a capsular contracture in your right breast. Are your implants over or under the muscle?  CC is more common if the implants are over the muscle, but can occur even when they are under.  You need to see your plastic surgeon. There are ways to treat this. Good luck and I hope the problem resolves for you.
What Could Be Causing the Burning and Swelling Sensation on my Breasts?
What is causing the burning and swelling in my right breast?
Jul 19, 2018
After 6 years of having implants and 5 weeks after starting birth control pills, I would say the swelling is more likely due to the birth control. The burning sensation may be related to that as well. I would see your gynecologist or family physician.

Does silicone migrate
Jun 26, 2018
It is highly unlikely that with the current generation of silicone implants there would be migration of silicone droplets to other parts of the body.  There have been isolated cases reported, primarily to the lymph nodes, but these are with implants that are no longer used. The one factor with silicone implants that is significant is that if you do experience a leak, you won't know it in all probability by physical examination alone. An MRI would be needed to make that diagnosis. There is a ...
Do I need firmer breast implants with very little breast tissue?
Do I need firmer breast iimplants
Jun 26, 2018
There are basically 3 levels of "cohesivity" in the Natrelle line of breast implants. Think of this as the level of firmness.  The one that has been in use the longest is the Responsive gel implant, which is also known as level 1. At the other end of the spectrum is the level 3, or Cohesive implant, which some refer to as the "Gummy bear" implant. While it is true that the level 3 would be less apt to show rippling, many of my patients, after examining all 3 types in my office, find the ...
Utilize a lift without implant to create fullness and rid sagging?
Lift without implants
Mar 27, 2018
Thank you for your question and good quality photos.  If more "fullness" is what you are after, you may need implants. If just a better shape will do, then a lift may suffice. I show my patients, who are wavering between the two operations, pictures of other patients who have had both methods.  I can show the same before and after pictures to two different women and their reactions will be totally different.
