Recommendation for breast implant - Seeking a softer look like Dita Von teese.
Softer Look Breast Implants
Jun 21, 2016
Given the size and shape of your breasts your goals are achievable.  The final size and shape of your breasts can be fine tuned by considering at least four options.  The options are implant size, implant type (saline vs. silicone gel and round vs. shaped), incisional approach (periareolar, inframammary, or armpit), and placement above or below the muscle.  There are advantages and disadvantages to all options. You should arrange a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who wi...
Is there a relationship between body mass and CC?
Body Weight and Capsular Contracture
Jun 6, 2016
To the best of my knowledge and experience, there is no correlation between body weight and the development of capsular contracture.  It is true, however, that if you put a large implant in a small breast, it will feel firmer or look and feel less natural than if you put a smaller implant in a larger breast.  This is a function of how much tissue is covering the implant and should not be confused with capsular contracture.Instead of gaining weight, consider a second opinion with another boar...
Post vs Pre Tragus incision?
Pre-tragus vs. Post-tragus Incision
May 29, 2016
Most women elect to have the post-tragal incision to avoid a scar in front of the ear. If this incision is closed without tension after thinning the tissues over the tragus before closure, there should be no distortion or unnatural appearance to the tragus (e.g. thickened or pulled forward).  However, women can have a pre-tragal incision if that is their preference and if they are willing to accept a pre-tragal scar.  Everyone heals differently and some pre-tragal scars will be better than o...
Why does my nose look so different in one picture to the next?
Photo Variation
May 13, 2016
There are several things for you to consider:It can take some time, months or even years, to become  familiar with and accustomed to a new nose. When you see yourself in photographs, it is opposite to the way you see yourself in the mirror everyday.Lighting, shadows, backround, angles, and camera settings can make photos of the same subject look different.
Panniculectomy VS Tummy Tuck?
Panniculectomy vs. Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
May 12, 2016
A panniculectomy will remove the excess skin and fat only from the lower abdomen. It will not remove fat from the upper abdomen unless liposuction is added to the procedure. Also, it will not tighten the upper abdominal skin unless combined with an abdominoplasty.  After a significant weight loss the skin may be quite lax and never completely retract. Liposuction alone will remove any fat but does not tighten the skin. An abdominoplasty accomplishes all of the above and can be combined wit...
Why is my right eye smaller than my left eye?
Eyelid Asymmetry
May 4, 2016
There is a dictum that "no two sides of the body are exactly the same and they can never be made exactly the same" with or without surgery. So, for example, new shoes don't fit exactly the same on your left and right feet.  Many women's breasts have a slightly different size and shape. Your facial profiles, left and right, are slightly different; which is why some people like to have their photo taken from one side better than the other (their "good side").We are all born with some degree of ...
Small bumps all along incision line and upper eye lid 8 days after surgery. Is it too soon for mass
Bumps after blepharoplasty suture removal
Apr 28, 2016
It's not uncommon to have small bumps immediately after suture removal where the sutures entered and exited the skin.  These are usually self-correcting after a week or two without any intervention. We instruct patients after blepharoplasty to avoid eye makeup, contact lenses, and massage for several weeks.  It takes a couple of weeks for the wound to heal and regain its tensile strength.  Massage could irritate or disrupt the wound if done too early or cause the scar to spread.  Should the...
How many hours would it take to perform a tummy tuck and breast lift?
Operative Time Mommy Makeover
Mar 4, 2016
This will vary depending on your examination and specific operative plan.  For example, the breast lift portion may be done with or without implants which adds additional time. The tummy tuck portion may be done with or without liposuction of the hips and flanks which adds additional time. On average about 3-5 hours.
Do you go home the same day after Tummy Tuck ?
Going home after Tummy Tuck
Mar 2, 2016
Almost all of my patients go home the same day after a Tummy Tuck because they can get around and are more comfortable at home.  Early ambulation after any surgery reduces the chance for blood clots in the leg veins which is usually very low (depending on your medical history) but not zero.  We ask patients to refrain from bending, lifting, and straining but encourage them to walk around the house (e.g. trips to the kitchen and bathroom with assistance) as tolerated.Occasionally a...
should I go for Cellulaze with Smartlipo, Vaser Liposelection or regular lipo?
Which Liposuction Machine?
Mar 1, 2016
Similar results can be obtained with almost any liposuction machine.  Ultrasonic and Vaser machines emulsify fat which makes it physically easier for the surgeon to remove the fat, especially in fibrous areas like the back.  Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL) makes it easier as well.  Liposculpting the body is an artistic endeavor, much like an artist would sculpt a statue. What may be most important in liposuction is what is in the surgeon's mind, not what is in the surgeon's hand.
What should I expect going into a Tummy tuck ? Is it like a c-section ?
Tummy Tuck vs C-Section
Feb 27, 2016
In a C-Section the muscle layer is divided. In a Tummy Tuck the muscles are sewn together in the midline but not divided. In my opinion, this is the reason many patients find recovery after a Tummy Tuck easier than or not harder than a C-Section. It is normal to be nervous before any operation. Don't hesitate to ask your surgeon any question on your mind. If you are comfortable with and confident in your surgeon you can work together as a team to make things go smoothly.
Cost of facelift, etc.?
Cost of Complete Facial Rejuvenation
Feb 22, 2016
You will be undergoing three surgical procedures and two ancillary procedures.  Each of these separately will usually cost more than when done together.  Fees will vary depending on the location and the surgeon.  They are usually broken out by surgeon's fee, anesthesia fee, and facility fee (i.e. operating room of hospital or ambulatory surgery center or certified office facility).  The fee you were quoted sounds like it is in the ball park for the Northeast.  More importantly, you...
Do I need a full facelift? Or can I do a mini lift? If I'm not constantly smiling I look terrible (
Full or Mini Lift`
Feb 8, 2016
Your skin looks like it's in very good condition. The only way to achieve a lasting correction of your jowls, which is your primary concern, is with a facelift, in my opinion. The minilift usually will address the face (including jowls) and a full lift will more thoroughly address the face and neck. The scar for a minilift is usually just around the ear and shorter than the scar for a full face and neck lift, which usually extends into the scalp behind...
Is it possible to combine a cosmetic arm lift and a breast reduction covered by insurance?
Arm Lift and Breast Reduction
Feb 3, 2016
Yes. If you are otherwise healthy, not only can they be done safely at the same time, they should be done at the same time as it would be only one procedure, one recovery, and less expensive for you than if done separately.
I am 28 years old with developing nasolabial folds. Is a facial lift too extreme or a smart move? (
Nasolabial Folds
Jan 27, 2016
Judging from your age and photos you are not a candidate for facelift surgery and will not be for quite some time, in my opinion. The nasolabial folds are created by muscles attached to the underside of the skin. With repeated contraction (e.g. smiling) these muscles crease the overlying skin. In my practice these are best corrected with injections of your own fat. Fillers in syringes work fine but can sometimes look or feel lumpy, and can sometimes...
