Can filler be dissolved 5 years later after it has spread?

We know filler hangs around far longer than initially thought. MRI studies have shown that it can still be present 8-9 years later… and irritatingly it does seem to hang around longer if it’s not looking great.You should definitely be able to dissolve any residual filler but you may also find that the tissue itself has become a little ‘stretched’ over time.

These lines are usually caused by poorly placed filler. Overfilling the lip body, or too much filler within the vermilion border will cause this. It should settle as the filler is slowly broken down, but dissolving the poorly placed filler will lead to a quicker resolution

We know that dermal fillers actually hang around considerably longer than we originally thought – up to 9 years on MRI scans.It may be that this is actually still some residual filler. If any local practitioner has access to ultrasound they may be able to scan the lump and filler is usually obvious. If it is residual filler then the enzyme that breaks it down – hyaluronidase – may well help

There are a few of us around that trained in it with Tom Van Eijk who invented the technique.Not everyone advertises it as it is usually just one of many techniques we use. It may well be me you found in the north that does it.
It may be worth messaging Tom to see if he keeps a list of practitioners he’s trained in the UK as I can’t think of anyone in the south east off the top of my head

Chin filler can be tender and achey for a couple of days post procedure. I always warn my patients it will fell a little like they have been punched on the chin!That is some cracking brusing you’ve got as well (which does happen occasionally) so that will be contributing to the tender feeling. Arnica supplements/cream are said to help with the bruising (lthough there’s not a great deal of evidence). Cool pack (on for 10-15 minutes off for 30 and repeat) will help. If the pain isn’t settling…
