Congratulations on your insights into your health. Generally, sleeve and bypass both given nearly the same weight loss, without the same initial risk profile. Gastric bypass has slightly higher early risk, but may give more durable long-term weight loss results.

I think you should be fine to proceed with surgery. As long as there is no evidence of infection, and it’s not on your abdomen, it shouldn’t pose a problem. Good luck!

I typically advise my patients to take 3-4 days off work as they may have nausea and need to focus on hydration. Most are back within a week for sure.
