Is a second gastric sleeve safe? Are there long term complications that could develop
Investigate the reasons for weight regain
Aug 8, 2019
Hi, before considering redo/revisional surgery, it is important to assess what factors have led back to the cycle of weight loss and regain. There may be non-surgical or lifestyle factors that you can address before considering redo surgery. You will need to be investigated for other cause of weight regain e.g. is it a surgical issue, or is there an underlying medical condition.Bear in mind that redo surgery carries increased risk compared to the original surgery. Also a redo sleeve may not…

Multiple possible causes
Feb 1, 2019
1. Caloric intake2. Energy expenditure3. Surgical factorsCaloric intake and energy expenditure are relatively self-explanatory.Surgical factors in this situation mainly refers to how “tight” a sleeve is. Another way of looking at it is: how much stomach is left behind. A “loose” sleeve can mean reduced food portion restriction.

Total caloric intake
Feb 1, 2019
Hi, the gastric sleeve reduces the stomach size (therefore limiting meal portion size) and reduces hunger-hormone production. However, there are always ways of consuming excess calories depending on what you consume. Furthermore, surgery is only one aspect of weight loss solution. There are other lifestyle factors that need to be addressed also. This holistic approach helps to create the best outcome.
Is the Lap Band Reversible?
It is reversible
Feb 1, 2019
The gastric band is reversible. However, removal may result in weight regain. It does give the option of conversion to a different weight loss procedure. Bear in mind that revisional surgery carried increased risk of complications compared to primary surgery.
Can sneezing move nose filler?
No
Oct 13, 2018
Assuming the fillers are injected in the correct plane, the filler should not move. The surrounding tissue tends to hold the fillers and place. Fillers can be massaged/moulded, but should no move with sneezing.

Dependent on BMI
Oct 13, 2018
Traditionally qualification criteria for weight loss surgery are BMI of 35 with weight-related medical conditions, or a BMI of 40 or more without medical comorbidities. The gastric sleeve can lead to reflux or worsening of reflux symptoms. However, it is important to specify what “acid relfux” one has, because it is a term that can have different meanings to different people.
Sleeve Gastrectomy or Gastric Bypass Surgery?
At a glance
Oct 13, 2018
If you could choose between the two procedures, then a sleeve gastrectomy would be my choice. This is without taking into account other factors that have not been mentioned. A sleeve has less potential for complications (short and long term) and generally quicker recovery. But there are other factors you need to take into account before making the decision. I suggest you discuss your situation with a qualified bariatric/metabolic surgeon who can go through the risks and benefits of each.
