Answer Snippet
Can ice be applied on facial swelling after 4 days?
Ice on skin
Mar 22, 2016
Ice can be dangerous because if you do not have normal sensation in the area you might not realize you damaged the skin. Plastic surgeon for years have used frozen peas in a zip lock bag instead of ice. Peas are not as cold, contour well to area applied, and thaw before they could really do any harm.
Do I need a facelift?
Facelift
Mar 19, 2016
A facelift would not address your area of concern. Attempting to use a  facelift lift to address subtle early marionette lines would cause more distortion around the mouth than the correction it would achieve, fillers are much better and more site specific option.
Why would my neck look like this after two surgeries?
Neck lift
Mar 8, 2016
The prominence of the bands would require either suturing them together, dividing the band surgically or both. Unfortunately this requires a surgical revision.
Pain around cheek and facial sutures from massage. Is this normal?
Suture pain after face lift
Mar 3, 2016
Deep sutures, especially those used to support and elevate the fascia and facial muscles can be tender for a long time after surgery. I generally advise my patients not to massage those tender areas for up to 3 months. There is little risk that they are damaging the soft tissue in the area.
Facelift uneven bruising. Does this look normal to you?
Post-op Facelift
Mar 1, 2016
This early on the amount of bruising and swelling you have is completely normal. You will also usually notice that the side you sleep on will be a little more bruised because of gravity.
Am I a candidate for facelift, eyelid lift, or neck lift?
Facelift
Feb 11, 2016
After reviewing your pictures I believe any surgical procedure is more likely to cause distortion than the result you are seeking.
Skiing after Breast Augmentation?
Ski trip after breast augmentation
Feb 1, 2016
I do not recommend skiing for at least 6 weeks after breast augmentation especially if you have a submuscular implant. You run the risk of bleeding and shifting the position of the implant both which could compromise your long term result.
Why is it that some doctors (my doctor in particular) does not want me using ice to help with the pa
Ice after breast augmentation
Jan 29, 2016
I saw a patient 6 years ago who had breast augmentation by another surgeon, went home took a Percocet and put an ice bag on each breast. When she awoke from her nap she had full thickness necrosis of both breasts and had to have bilateral breast reconstruction. Surgery and pain medication can disrupt the protective sensation that normally occurs to protect our skin from thermal injury. I never recommend the use of ice at the site of a surgical procedure.
I gained 25 lbs due to an injury and now my augmented breasts are a bit saggy. Will they go back onc
Saggy Breast
Jan 29, 2016
I always tell patients when you let air out of a balloon the contours are never as smooth and that applies here. Your skin will not return exactly to the previous elasticity but I don’t see stretch marks on your skin so hopefully the difference will not be too significant.
Am I a good candidate for Liposuction?
Is lipo a good choice
Jan 29, 2016
It is a little difficult to judge from your photograph but is does not appear that you have any stretch marks or skin damage from your previous weight gain. With that being said and that the fact that the amount of fat being removed would be well within the acceptable range I think you would be a good candidate for liposuction. Congratulations on your weight loss and good luck.
Is getting a full tummy tuck under the belly button OK?
Mini versus Full Abdominoplasty
Dec 7, 2015
There is no right answer for everyone. Your plastic surgeon will evaluate skin laxity, excess fatty tissue, and the integrity of you abdominal muscles and then recommend the procedure that would be most appropriate to achieve your goals.
Are my breasts deformed? What can I do to fix them?
Breast Shape
Dec 7, 2015
The breast shape you have after weight loss is not unusual. If you are happy with your size when you wear a bra this could be corrected with a breast lift. If you would prefer to have a larger volume then a lift and augmentation would be the answer. These are the types of cases plastic surgeons do all the time and I would expect you to do well.
I wanted to get opinions if I would be a good candidate for liposuction?
Liposuction
Dec 2, 2015
From the pictures submitted I think you would be a good candidate. However be advised if the overlying skin has stretch marks the result might be less than ideal. It was difficult to determine from the photographs provided if stretch marks are present in the areas of concern.
Did I ruin my Tummy tuck? 7-8 months post op? No weight gain, same physical activity, same diet. Onl
Post-op Tummy Tuck
Dec 2, 2015
I don’t think anything was “ruined”. It is not unusual to have swelling extending past 6 weeks. There is also to possibility that you have a seroma, or fluid collection. This would be easy to identify by your plastic surgeon and treated by aspirating the fluid. A simple procedure done in the office.
I have a 6 inch opening that still hasn’t healed 5 1/2 weeks after tummy tuck. Is this normal? (Phot
Abdominal Wound
Nov 19, 2015
The dark tissue in the center of the wound is not viable and the wound will heal faster if that is removed. That being done your surgeon will be able to revise this area and close. I don’t think I wound wait for the wound to heal before doing the revision.
