GERD and VSG. Will it be advisable for me to go through with this procedure with my history of GERD

Hi, it is important to see a Bariatric surgeon and get the best surgery recommended to your specific case, as some surgeries like the gastric sleeve can increase or create the existence of GERD, others like the gastric bypass can get rid of it. GERD is a serious condition if not treated right, as it damages the lower portion of the esophagus, so getting rid of it surgically, definitely is a wise choice.

It is important after bariatric surgery to stick strictly to the nutrition plan given to you by your surgeon, as well as using the recommended supplements. With the correct nutrition hair loss should not be a problem.

Hi, after a revision from a lap band to a gastric bypass, there is no chance to perform a Vertical sleeve gastrectomy.
Your best option would be to get a revision from bypass to a distal bypass. There would be some tests involved to see the current state of your intestines, but that is one possibility.

Revision from lapband to Gastric Sleeve
Feb 21, 2020
Feb 21, 2020
Hi,it is possible and very common to do this type of surgery. Lap bands should be removed eventually because they can cause erosion in the stomach and it could get to the point of perforating the gastric wall. That is why whenever this surgery is done, a preoperatory endoscopy is done, to know the state of the band.If the gastric wall is erosion by the band, the band has to be removed as it poses a threat to your health, and evaluate if the gastric sleeve surgery can be completed or if only...

Feb 21, 2020
Hi.First of all, I would like to change the direction of the question a little bit. From what I can read, I would say that Bariatric surgery would be a good choice for you, even though I do not know your precise height, the weight that you currently have is high. The best thing to do right now would be to get a full bariatric assessment in a consultation so you can get recommended the surgery that best suits you.

Gastric Bypass Revision

Feb 3, 2020
Hi,If I understand correctly you are looking into a revision surgery of a gastric bypass, that could allow you to keep losing weight and achieving your goal. When Gastric Bypass revision surgery is done, there are a couple of things that can be changed or fixed to allow the weight loss to continue.1.- The gastric Pouch might be enlarged, which can be recalibrated to give you restriction once again.2.- The amount of intestine that was bypassed can be increased by dismantling the previous...
