Scars and injury typically remodel or change over the course of approximately 6 months to 1 year with fading of the redness or hyperpigmentation. Conservative treatment with scar gel(Mederma), silicone sheeting and protection from the sun with clothing and sunblock helps with the process. Additional benefit may be obtained with laser and/or steroid injection, but the redness should resolve on its own.
