Lap band removal - is using mesh (to prevent scar tissue) necessary?
Lap band removal
Nov 24, 2023
Nov 24, 2023
Absolutely not. This is actually an easy procedure and scar tissue is not going to cause any problems, since it's all the way up close to diaphragm.Your surgeon maybe taking about absorbable "mesh like" materials that is shown to reduce scar tissue. Although there is no need, I don't believe that can cause any issues
19, 187lbs & keep gaining, do I need an endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty?
Weight gain
Nov 1, 2023
Nov 1, 2023
Unfortunately weight gain is a chronic medical problem.Unless you take some action, you may have a harder time in the future to get to your ideal weight.Although Endoscopic Sleeve (ESG) is an option, most people get a better, long term result by Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastronomy.
Will I gain weight after lap band removal if it's always been unfilled?
Weight gain after lap band removal!
Nov 1, 2023
Nov 1, 2023
Most likely you will gain back what you lost after removing the Lap-Band.That's is the case with all medical/ surgical products in general unless you maintain a rigorous diet and exercise program.Even though your band is never filled, it still creates some level of restriction. This is even more significant in older (smaller) bands. In addition most surgeons add some fluid during the initial surgery to create more restriction. If you are happy with the band, then leave it. If you like to...
How do I get started with getting my panniculectomy covered by insurance?
Panniculectomy
Aug 3, 2023
Aug 3, 2023
Some insurances cover panniculectomy. First you have to find a doctor that will perform panniculectomy and/ or tummy tuck. Then you have to find one that also accepts your insurance. Most policies ask patients to do up to 6 months of medical treatment of this condition, prior to authorizing surgery.
Is it possible to dilate the stomach to increase size?
Can I dilate my stomach?
Mar 30, 2023
Mar 30, 2023
Yes,The stomach after Gastric Sleeve can kink or continue to cause issues. There are a few options:1. Balloon Dilation to stretch the tissue. 2. Stent placement to increase the diameter. If those don't work and your symptoms are severe, you can talk to an experienced surgeon and consider "revising" it to Gastric Bypass to resolve the issue by bypassing the narrow part.
Had a Tummy Tuck 3 years ago and now I want Gastric Bypass - will I end up with lots of loose
Surgery for 30 lbs weight loss
Feb 26, 2023
Feb 26, 2023
You definitely don't need Gastric Bypass. You could look into non-surgical options like medication or gastric balloon. But to answer your question, you probably will not have any problem with loose skin, since it all looks nice & tight!
My consultation was with the coordinator - is that the norm?
Consultation with Coordinator vs. Surgeon
Feb 26, 2023
Feb 26, 2023
Unfortunately some programs use a coordinator for consultation and all the work-up before the surgery. Obviously this will lower the quality of care and the patient satisfaction as Coordinators have no medical training.
It's important that you ask to meet with your surgeon and otherwise look at this scenario as a red-flag.
