Running after breast augmentation and how to protect implants if one has dropped before the other
Exercise after breast augmentation
Apr 14, 2020
Hi, great question. I would follow the instructions of your surgeon. If he/she has recommended to avoid running for another month then you should adhere to their directives. Every surgeon has a different post op regimen in regards to dos/don'ts and recommendations for exercise. It's not uncommon for one implant to drop before the other. Sometimes it can take even up to 6 months for both implants to descend and be in the appropriate position. Best of luck with your healing
Could you kindly confirm if the bluish hue between eyes and nose is normal?
Dark circles under eyes
Apr 14, 2020
Hi, great question. This is completely normal. The skin of the lower eyelid is very thin. Secondary to this discoloration is common as the blood vessels in this area are more apparent. Lower eyelid discoloration is a difficult problem to treat. Some treatment options include lasers, fillers, and lower lid surgery. I recommend a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss different treatment plans to devise the right one for you
Do I need a breast lift with an augmentation?
Breast augmentation with and without a lift
Apr 14, 2020
Hi, great question. It's difficult to tell from the one picture if in fact you would need a breast lift. When I see patients for breast augmentation surgery there are several factors I take into consideration as to whether or not the patient additionally needs a mastopexy (breast lift). I examine the position of the nipple areolar complex in relation to the inframammary fold (the fold along the bottom of the breast). I also talk to the patient about their goals for implant...
I’ve had my breast augmentation done July of 2018 and my scars are really raised and darker red. H
Surgical scars
Apr 14, 2020
From your picture you appear to have a thickened, raised scar or a hypertrophic scar. There are multiple ways to help treat widened, thick scars, such as: steroid injections, silicone gel, and scar massage. Some times you have to have multiple treatments to help with the appearance of the scar. A scar revision can also be performed, but there's no guarantee that it wouldn't become a hypertrophic scar again. I would recommend a consultation with a board certified plastic...
Is it typical to not need drains after surgery? Are drains necessary after a BR surgery?
No drains fora breast reduction
Apr 14, 2020
Hi, great question. Some plastic surgeons use drains for breast reductions, however new research and evidence based medicine has shown us that drains are actually not needed. With any type of surgery, hematomas (or a collection of blood) can still occur, but drains do not prevent this from happening. Best of luck with your surgery
I'm in a DDD cup and I'm wanting to know if I can go back into a C cup
Breast reduction
Apr 14, 2020
Hey, great question. From what you're describing it sounds like you may benefit from a breast reduction. A breast reduction not only removes excess breast tissue but will make the areola smaller and lift the breast as well. This can help overall with her symptoms of neck and back pain. Unfortunately with this type of surgery it's hard to guarantee a bra cup size. There is no standard C cup size for all bra manufacturers. Your bra cup size may change depending on where you buy your...

Breast reduction and weight loss
Apr 14, 2020
Great question. Insurance companies vary on their coverage for breast reduction procedures. Most insurance companies look at an algorithm that takes into account your height and weight. Therefore if you can lose weight, it can sometimes help with obtaining insurance coverage. Additionally weight loss helps with your overall surgical result and can lessen post operative complications, such as wound healing difficulties and infections. I always tell patients that if you are able to get...
2 yrs post mastopexy w/ 400cc. Breasts look like long, like cones when bending over Does not look
Breasts look elongated following mastopexy
Jan 4, 2019
It is difficult to tell from the photo, but as your surgery was 2 years ago you may have recurrent ptosis (or droop) of the nipple areolar complexes. This can sometimes create an appearance of a long breast. Options would include a repeat mastopexy. I recommend evaluation by a plastic surgeon in order to determine the best treatment plan for you.

Is my belly button going to heal okay? 2 weeks post TT w/ lipo.
Scarring following wound separation
Jan 4, 2019
Generally speaking, if there is a slight separation of the incision most wounds heal fine without difficulty. However, this depends on how deep the area has separated and whether or not the wound is infected. And it is difficult to know how people will ultimately scar, as some people may be prone to more aggressive scarring than others (ie: keloid formation, or hypertrophic/widened scar). I recommend continued follow up with your surgeon and local wound care (ie: keeping...
Is this Normal Bruising 4 Days Post Op BA
Post operative bruising
Jan 4, 2019
Your bruising appears to be within a normal range for what I would expect 4 days after surgery. However I would recommend an evaluation by your surgeon so they can perform a clinical exam and ensure there's no fluid collection that has developed.

Should I get areola scar revision?
Scar revision
Jan 4, 2019
The photos are helpful, but it's difficult to get a good idea on the quality of the scar without a clinical examination. If I have patients that are contemplating a scar revision I always advise them to wait at least one year following the procedure before moving forward with any sort of revision. It takes at least a year for a scar to really mature and flatten out. And sometimes, depending on the circumstance, it may be difficult to obtain a "better looking" scar. Other treatment...
