Benefites and Side Effects of Radiesse Vs Juvederm?
Radiesse vs Juvederm or Restylane
Feb 17, 2012
For first timers receiving a filler, I will always use Juvederm or Restylane/Perlane. As mentioned previously, if there is any concern with the appearance, it can be treated and removed easily. Furthermore, Juvederm and Restylane last up to 6 months, and Radiesse up to a year; I think that patients should be experienced with the appearance of fillers from a previous treatment before seeking the longer-lasting filler.

Some say that Radiesse can cause a more…

What Treatments Will Address Red Scars After Shaving Moles?
Redness after biopsy
Jan 31, 2012
I have also treated these with good results with IPL; and I often combine this treatment with Retin-A or a similar cream. It can take up to a year for a scar to achieve its final appearance (which often results in a white flat scar); however, at this point, results from any intervention at that point are less effective, if at all. I agree with seeing your dermatologist to evaluate the quality and size of your scar and to see which interventions would be most appropriate for you.
Should I Shave or Cut out an Intradermal Nevus Between my Lip and my Nose?
Mole removal
Jan 28, 2012
I would first be aware that no matter what you do, you are likely to leave a scar. Be absolutely sure that you will be okay with a scar vs the mole.

To patients facing this same dilemma, I often recommend shave removal. If you are less than pleased with the round scar and/or it grows back, there is nothing holding you back from an excision at that point. It can take up to a year before the final scar appearance becomes apparent. Still, many are pleased with the shave in…

How to Get Rid of my Skin Redness from Seborrheic Dermatitis?
Treating facial redness
Jan 28, 2012
A number of things could be causing your redness besides seb derm; I suspect rosacea; however, other things like contact dermatitis or even lupus can do this. I would recommend that you get a second opinion by a dermatologist who can evaluate and diagnose you in person–photographs are no substitute for physical presence–to determine exactly what is causing your symptoms and prescribe appropriate treatment. I can see that you are very frustrated. There are options out…
How long does Nausea last after Botox?
Nausea after Botox
Dec 13, 2011
More often than being directly related to the medication, patients often experience nausea as a result of the procedure itself. We call this a "vaso-vagal reaction." This is just a reaction to the procedure you're undergoing, as much as you are nervous about the procedure and how well you tolerate such a thing. This reaction, which can include lightheadedness, disorientation and weakness, nausea, and sweating, usually lasts only a few minutes (most…
How Do Dysport and Botox Formulas Differ in Their Effectiveness on Deep Forehead Wrinkles?
Botox vs Dysport
Dec 13, 2011
The neurotoxins can have the same effects (and thus the same side effects) as one another. I have had some say that Dysport makes their brow feel "heavy," but most do not mind this sensation if they even have it at all. Both have great clinical effect and will produce the results that you are looking for. My recommendation is that you see a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon with extensive experience in this treatment, though.

If you have deep…

Can I Do Laser Therapy for Acne, before I Start Roaccutane Therapy?
Laser treatments before and after Accutane
Dec 13, 2011
This is a good question, although it is a bit unclear what the laser is targeting in your case. Is the laser for the treatment of the acne itself? The scars and/or hyperpigmentation? Something different (i.e. hair removal)?

In any case, I generally recommend that my patients wait 5-6 months following accutane for any major procedures, including laser treatments. Accutane can prolong post-treatment healing, so as a caution, I think it is best to wait.

As far as…
