Will losing weight after bilateral reconstruction adversely affect their appearance?
Weight loss after Breast reconstruction
Jul 16, 2014
Best wishes on your journey. There are two issues you may need to consider, appearance and overall health. Long term health and chance of recurrence are helped by maintaining normal weight and regular exercise. The appearance of the reconstruction,as the other responders have said, probably will not be adversely affected by weight loss. I encourage you to pursue wieght loss, regular exercise, and healthy lifestyle. Good Lick

Is this squishy mess normal
Jul 15, 2014
Generally it takes many months for your body to heal and reshape following abdomenal surgery. Typically this area will flatten out with time, but the waiting can be difficult. You could have some fluid, which is common and easily removed. Your Doctor can determine that,Hang in there, you’re doing great
I have diastases recti after muscle-sparing free tram flap & Tummy Tuck. What are my options?
Diastasis recti following free tram
Jul 3, 2014
Thank you for your question and I hope all is well with your cancer treatment. The course of action is dependent on the type of free tram you had done and where the scar is. It may be that a tummy tuck with muscle tightening would give the best functional and cosmetic result.I would go back to the surgeon who did the free tram. That surgeon may have good ideas based on what he/she did. You should also get a copy of the operative note for the information should another…
Should I get textured silicone implant to correct my current implant complication?
Should I get Textured silicone implants
Jul 3, 2014
This is a difficult question to answer with pictures alone. All of the other answers are good and have excellent points, but I have different advice.I would use an inframammary incision and do superior capsulotomies. I think a tear shaped textured implant would be great, but I would NOT GO BIGGER.The larger you go, the harder it is to appear normalGood luck
Tack Up Reversal Possible?
Tack Up Reversal Possible
Jul 3, 2014
Thank you for your question. This is a difficult situation in that overall you have a good result and of course perfect is not possible all the time. Fat grafting may improve the situation but there is always the possibility that other defects may arise. I think after one more try you should consider stopping.Find a surgeon you trust and good luck
I’m 19, 5’3, 125lbs and a 32G and I want to know how I can get approved by my insurance for a
Insurance approval for breast reduction
Jun 24, 2014
A good place to start is with your primary care provider. Your PCP no doubt has been through this with other patients and has experience with local Plastic Surgeons. You can research these surgeons and visit themWe are familiar with the insurance requirements and we (The plastic surgeon you choose) can guide the process. My guess is that there are a number of women who have had this surgery who will have lots of advice once they know you need the surgery doneGood Luck
Will Blue Cross Blue Shield Cover my breast reduction surgery?
Will insurance pay for the breast reduction
Jun 24, 2014
It sounds like you are doing all the right things and your Plastic Surgeon has it under control. Insurance companies have criteria for breast reduction approval and by submitting your case info, they can tell if they will cover the surgery. The time it takes for a decision varie3s with insurance companies, but a call to the company can’t hurt
Can Macs lift be reversal?
MACS reversal
Jun 23, 2014
One of the responsiblities in Plastic Surgery is the knowledge that onc an operation has begun, we can never totally undo it. Reversing any facelift depends on the areas where the patient is unhappy. Sometime a simple proceedure can accomplish your goal.I think it is vitally important for you and your surgeon to be clear on the goals and realistic in expectations. Realisticly perfection is a goal always, an accomplishment rarely
I have lower stomach fat above my pubic mound. Why is it there and what is the best solution
Lower Abdomenal Fat
Jun 21, 2014
A person’s shape is dtermined by multiple factors among which are skin tone and fat distribution. In your vase it may be that you are genetically disposed to accumulate fat in that area (Blame Mom and Dad).If your skin tone is good, liposuction could be a very good solution for you. A consult with a Plastic Surgeon would give you good informationGood Luck
How long is the length of recovery for a skin only Belt Lipectomy without muscle repair or dr
Recovery time from Belt Lipectomy
Jun 21, 2014
There is no absolute answer to the question. As a nurse you know the extreme variability in patient response to surgery. With no muscle work and no drains, two weeks is feasable but by no means guaranteed.I would tell my patients to plan on three and they can go back earlier if there are no problems.Good Luck
Tummy Tuck with no Muscle Repair, will results be compromised? And how soon can it be fixed t
Muscle repair or not
Jun 17, 2014
I cannot comment on your case specfically. Typically after 150 pound weight loss one has primarily a skin elasticity problem. I,too, routinely tighten the muscles to avoid a lower abdomenal pooch. There are people who do not require a muscle repair, but they are rare.Muscle repair makes the post op recovery longer
I had a colostomy reversal on May 5 2014. I still have a visible stitch on the far left end o
Visible stitch
Jun 17, 2014
If you have a stitch visible after 1 month, it is reasonable to ask your surgeon about it. It is probably not seriousGood Luck
36 days post op of Tummy Tuck, is the belly going to be flat?
When will you be flat
Jun 17, 2014
It sounds like things are progressing nicely and you have an attentive Plastic Surgeon. Your belly should continue to improve over the next few months so be patient. Sometimes a little liposuction is necessary to flatten things out but it is far too early to make that decision
How much complication seroma make to my body if it stays extra two week inside my belly? (pho
seroma
Jun 17, 2014
Congratulations on your Tummy Tuck. Seromas that need to be drained are not an unusual occurrence. The fluid is not in your belly but in the space between the belly wall and the skin. It is not uncommon to drain the fluid repeatedly, but eventually it stops. Hang in there
Is the silicone safe for breasts? Can it provoke disease?
Are silicone breast implants safe?
Jun 16, 2014
Silicone breast implants are probably the most thoroughly studied and tested implants in use today.Every lawyer in the country would love for there to be an issue with silicone implants which would lead to litigation. The Plastic Surgery Community has engaged in large scale research studies to determine the safety of these devices and they have passed the tests. The question of the implants causing other problems such as arthritis or other auto immune diseases has also been investigated. Are…
