Why recommend a vasectomy?
Why vasectomy is the best birth control
Sep 4, 2017
Even with the newer, office-based methods of permanent sterilization for females, vasectomy is still the safest, easiest and most effective means of permanent birth control. It is a simple 15 minute office procedure with very, very little or no discomfort in the right surgeon’s hands. Failure rates are much lower than for procedures on the female…and besides, guys, come on…they do all the hard work of pregnancy and childbirth, not to mention 40 years of menstrual periods to be followed…
Can a Vasectomy Cause Nerve Damage?
Does vasectomy cause nerve damage
Sep 4, 2017
Any procedure can be associated with chronic pain afterwards, and vasectomy is no different. The nerve that is occasionally damaged by the procedure is the nerve to the vas, not the testicular nerve. The chronic pain guys experience after vasectomy is most commonly called “post-vasectomy syndrome” and is a poorly understood chronic pain that many feel comes from congestion of the testicle and back pressure after the migration of sperm into the tubes is no longer possible. There are many…
Should I look for a urologist that uses cautery and/or fascial interposition in vasectomy, or is e
Best way to do a vasectomy
Sep 4, 2017
Most important is to prevent a failure, and there are many ways to do that. I feel that my technique, which I like to call a “triple whammy” of removal of a piece, tying off the ends, and cauterizing the ends of the vas is the best way. With the tiny incisions we make in our office, sometimes getting tissue in between is difficult and unnecessary. With the “triple whammy” I use, I have had one failure in over 3500 vasectomies, and he had to push his stalled car off the…
What is the Diva Laser?
How to Choose a Laser for Vaginal Rejuvenation and Why We Chose DIVA
Sep 3, 2017
After extensive research into the different treatments for vaginal rejuvenation, we decided on DIVA for our clinic. Any energy delivered to the vaginal wall will cause damage that makes your vaginal tissues regrow. The key is the amount and type of energy delivered and how much of the area is treated. You want a “magic middle” where enough tissue, deep enough, is treated to cause almost complete regrowth of the vaginal lining. It was clear to us after extensive research that the…
How common is it for the titanium clips to come off and exit out through the skin after a vasectom
Clips coming through the skin after vasectomy
Sep 3, 2017
I have done vasectomies for over 25 years myself, and I don’t use titanium clips but it is not unheard of for the body to “reject” a foreign body such as a clip. I use silk sutures and on rare occasions that has happened. I have had only one failure in over 3500 vasectomies, but that one involved a guy who had to push his car off the road the same day, so the silk suture “rejection” hasn’t resulted in a failure. Make sure you keep your appointments for the followup specimen checks!
Is it OK to masturbate 3 days after my surgery?
Masturbation after vasectomy
Sep 3, 2017
I feel that a period of abstaining from any sexual activity, including masturbation, should be practiced for at least 5 and preferably 7 days. My concern is that with activity any earlier, you might “pop a stitch” or have a clip come off. It is common to have some discomfort with the first few ejaculations after vasectomy, and the longer time to wait will lessen that pain. Don’t worry, you’re not going to quit!!
