Can arm liposuction and gastric bypass be done at the same time? Should I consider scheduling apart?
Hi Mariam!
Nov 28, 2023
It is not recommended to perform liposuction at the same time as gastric bypass. The patient will lose fat during the first year in an accelerated way and will notice changes every month. It is recommended to have an esthetics surgery one year after the gastric bypass in order to remove any extra skin and have better esthetics results.

The gastric Band should be removed through laparoscopic procedure. Having all your medical history we can check if you are candidate for a gastric sleeve and performed both procedures at the same time. Finally make sure that your bariatric team offers you a follow up, in order to help you through the process.
What are the chances of needing a blood transfusion during gastric sleeve surgery or post op?

As any type of surgical procedure there is a risk of bleeding . I recomed to you get information about CELL SAVER and check if is available at the hospital where you going to have your surgery . Cell saver is a specific type of autologous blood transfusion, which involves recovering blood lost during surgery and re-infusion it into the patient. It is used in surgical procedures where significant blood loss is anticipated.

Hi!
Aug 21, 2023
It seems like you had good results from your previous procedure and you are still having good eating habits. Your weight gain could be related with stress. Stress is a factor that increases weight regain, producing high levels of cortisol which is directly related with weight control, even having a bariatric procedure. Although I recommend you to remove the Band and performed a Gastric sleeve or gastric bypass.

I recomend to have a revisional bariatric surgery. This procedure allows the surgeon to review the surgery previously performed and determine if it is possible to modify. The revisional procedure consist of 1. Endoscopy before the procedure 2 . Remove the lap band 3. Adjust the bypass4. Endoscopy after the surgery It is necessary to have all the patient information like weight loss after the first surgery, weight regain, or any complication during the process.
