Any hair loss experienced with this hairline lowering procedure?
Not common, but not rare either
Apr 3, 2019
Mild, temporary hair loss can occur after hairline lowering surgery. It is not common, but it is not rare either. Significant and/or permanent hair loss is very rare with hairline lowering. In cases where there is permanent hair loss, it is usually very mild and can be treated with hair transplants at a later time. Moderate to severe hair loss will almost certainly recover, at least for the most part.
Can someone explain what the procedure/process/time frame is for the forehead expander if someone ha
Expander Information
Apr 3, 2019
That is correct that most patients wanting or needing more than 1 inch of forehead reduction will likely need a two-stage procedure requiring a tissue expander. The expander is usually placed in the midscalp (top of the head) or crown area, underneath the scalp skin. The length of time needed for expansion depends on how many inches of hairline lowering is the goal. It can usually be accomplished in 1 to 2 months for most patients. Several inches of extra scalp skin…
How old do you have to be to get a hairline lowering? I’m 17, going on 18 on January
Hairline Lowering Minimum Age
Apr 3, 2019
There is no absolute minimum age required to have a hairline lowering, but most surgeons would recommend a patient wait until at least 18 years of age so that they can make an informed adult decision. If there were an extenuating circumstance, such as severe teasing or bullying at school, surgery on a teenager could be considered. For male patients, it’s important to defer hairline lowering as long as possible in case there is a hereditary tendency toward male pattern baldness.

Specialized Surgeon
Apr 3, 2019
It is possible to make some modifications to the shape of the skull, including by bone shaving and/or implants. The specific plan to achieve this will vary depending on the patient’s anatomy and goals. It is important to discuss the personalized plan with a surgeon who is experienced with these type of procedures because they are quite specialized.
Any suggestion about transplantation and any alternatives to finasteride post procedure?
Genetic androgenic alopecia options
Dec 14, 2018
We recommend you consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to address your issues and get a sense of your specific hair distribution (remaining and receding). There are several options such as FUE or strip transplantation to help fill in the areas of thinning hair, but, as you noted, there is risk of placing hair that will become island when the surrounding hair recedes. PRP injections may or may not help enhance hair health/growth. The biggest thing would be to slow down the loss of…
My plastic surgeon is currently only board eligible. Cause for concern?
Board Certified Surgeons
Dec 14, 2018
While there are many fine board eligible surgeons we feel that a board certified plastic surgeon will likely provide the most experience. In addition, a board certified surgeon should also provide you with some personal comfort that all necessary processes have been met to practice this very complex and detailed medicine.

Acne scar laser treatment
May 18, 2018
There are many ways to treat acne scars and generally resurfacing the skin with lasers are great option. A C02 laser or Erbium laser are two great tools to resurface the skin. We recommend making a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to make an appropriate treatment plan.
Sensitive skin! Juvederm or Restylane?
Both Great Options
Jan 10, 2018
Both Juvederm and Restylane are great options for lip fillers given their very similar chemical components. Both are very safe to use and risk of allergic or “sensitive skin” adverse reactions are quite rare. Regardless of your choice of product a consultation of a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon will help guide you to the best product based on your personal goals for lips and help reduce adverse reactions.
Hair loss – Way to eliminate dandruff and itching? Have been using generic liquid Minoxidil.
Symptoms of Topical Minoxidil
Jan 8, 2018
Itching is a fairly common symptom reported by patients using topical minoxidil. It is likely that the liquid form could be associated with worse itching since that formulation of the product would be expected to have more contact with and penetration into the scalp. That is also consistent with the time course of the shedding, which can be a normal initial reaction to this medication. However, the shedding could also be due to stress from the skin inflammation. If there is…
How long do sharp pains and dents usually last after a lipo procedure of the abdomen?
Revision is not recommended until at least six months and sometimes up to a year
Jan 8, 2018
Discomfort is to be expected following liposuction and can last for several months depending on the anatomic area and extent of the liposuction. Six months is common, and longer is certainly possible. The same holds true for contour irregularities. They can persist for months while the skin is undergoing the retraction process. Mild deformities should be observed and treated with massage initially. Liposuction revisions are typically not recommended until at least six…

Compression garments should be worn for several weeks
Jan 8, 2018
A compression garment is recommended following liposuction for several weeks. The purpose of this is to minimize swelling following the procedure, decrease pain, help the skin with the retraction process, and prevent fluid collections from accumulating in the space from which the fat was removed. By the time that the surgeon recommends the compression garment may be stopped, the tissue is relatively stable and it would be unusual for there to be any migration of fluid or adjacent fat…
Best under eye filler for circles?
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Jan 8, 2018
Hyaluronic acid fillers are certainly the safest for use around the eye, and tend to provide good results when injected by a knowledgeable provider. There are many HA fillers on the market. Some popular ones for use under the eyelid are Restylane and Belotero. What’s most important is that the injector feels comfortable with the use of a specific product in a specific anatomic area.
Will I go blind from HA filler in cheeks?
Rare Risk w/ Fillers
Jan 8, 2018
Blindness is a very rare but possible complication from injectable filler in the area around the eye, including the cheeks. Having injections done by an experienced provider reduces the risk of this devastating outcome. Practices doing these type of injections should also have the recommended rescue medications in the event of this type of emergency.
How long after thigh lipo are you able to walk as regular again?
Normally within a week or two after surgery
Jan 8, 2018
Patients are encouraged to do some light walking immediately after thigh liposuction. Most patients feel as though they can walk normally within a week or two after surgery. To return to full activities may take up to a month.

Chin Augmentation vs. Overbite Correction
Jan 8, 2018
Overbite is a very specific diagnosis with particular dental features. This is not correctable with fillers or a facelift. What some patients mistake as or confuse with an overbite is often also described as a “weak chin”. This may be improved with fillers, depending on the case. A face lift could also be an option, but may give the best result when combined with a chin implant. It’s best to have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon experienced…
