As you get further out from surgery, your sleeve will stretch slightly. This is related to the swelling going away. This is normal, but if you are frequently “challenging” your sleeve by overeating to the point of being uncomfortable, your sleeve will stretch more and you may lose your restriction. Remember the sleeve is only a tool. It is a reminder to keep portions small. If you feel discomfort, it is your tool trying to talk to you.

It is important to understand what to expect after surgery. The sleeve is to help control your portions but you should not expect to feel “tight” with your meals. Stop eating when you are satisfied, not when you are uncomfortable.
Separate your liquids and solids. Wait 30 min after drinking water before your meal and you can resume drinking 45 minutes after. This will prevent the food from being “pushed through” too fast.

You need to see your surgeon to have them evaluate the band. There may be a problem with the band such as slippage or even some scar tissue that has developed under the band that can create a stricture or tight area preventing food or liquids from passing through.
