Fat needed for significant butt augmentation
The amount of fat needed to make a significant change in the buttock area is between 700-1000 CC’s of fat per side.
For someone to transfer this amount they would need to remove a minimum of 1400-2000 CC’s of pure fat.
Having said this, there are people who may not want a significant change or may not need it. In these instances, injecting lesser amounts is an option.
It is important for the surgeon to individualize a treatment plan according to the needs of a patient. (Saeed Marefat, MD, Washington DC Plastic Surgeon)
The amount of fat needed will depend on your current examination, your goals, and your surgeon’s experience with the operation (some have a higher success rate as a percentage of the fat placed than others).
Your best bet is to find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with a lot of experience doing this operation and visit with them for a consultation- they’ll be able to advise you on what is necessary to achieve your goals and whether you are a good candidate. (Armando Soto, MD, FACS, Orlando Plastic Surgeon)
Butt augmentation in thin patients
This is a challenging problem however the improvement from liposculpture and transfer of limited amounts of fat still gives worthwhile results.
Without examining you it is impossible to determine if you are a good candidate however the improvements can be very clearly pinpointed.
Often these are some of my happiest patients because we go into surgery with the price of a liposuction operation but we end up transferring smaller amounts of fat.
It is more affordable and the patient achieves the result that we’re both quite enthusiastic about. (Ricardo A. Meade, MD, Dallas Plastic Surgeon)
Buttock Augmentation with Fat
Improving the size of your buttocks with your own fat is becoming very popular for several reasons. First, patients can acheive their desired results of improved or increased buttock shape without the need for artificial implants.
In addition, there is the added benefit of liposuction of the area the fat is harvested from which allows for improved body contour. With that being said, from your photo you look quite slender and the amount of fat that could be harvested for transfer would not be sufficient to provide the results you describe. (Theodore Diktaban, MD, FACS, Manhattan Plastic Surgeon)
Gluteal augmentation with fat transfer requires a large amount of liposuction to remove the unwanted fat deposits and then inject the fat into the gluteal area. Not all the fat that is aspirated is used for the augmentation.
Therefore, usually large amount of liposuction is needed. (Farbod Esmailian, MD, Orange County Plastic Surgeon)
