Asymmetrical nose dome & deviated septum. What are my options?
Open septorhinoplasty
Oct 20, 2023
Hi. Your main option would be a septo-rhinoplasty. It’s hard to tell from the photos though exactly what needs to be done. The asymmetry on the photos seems relatively minor and especially regarding dome asymmetry this may not be improved with surgery. Even if the cartilages are made more symmetrical the soft tissue needs to conform to the new structure and scar tissue build up can be a bit unpredictable. If your main concern is a dorsal hump (not really visible in the photo) and breathing t…
Will fixing an over rotated nose impact my columella? Wanting to keep a natural result
Rotation
Sep 26, 2022
Hi , reducing the rotation shouldn’t cause columella show. It’s increasing rotation that can lead to columella hang if the caudal septum and ANS are not reduced. Rotation can be done using various techniques including COST and VAR combined with a septal extension graft
Why does my right side of my nose look better than the left side?
Natural asymmetry
Sep 18, 2022
Hi, your facial bone structure and structure of your nose will always have minor asymmetries. As a result your nose will not look exactly the same from the 2 sides. While swelling may go down and improve the symmetry a bit it is very likely the right and left sides will look slightly different. This is the same for everyone. Looks like you’ve had a really good result and shouldn’t worry about this
Is my end goal achievable for a thick skinned, ethnic nose?
Thick skin
Sep 15, 2022
Hi. Yes the edit you have done if your side profile is very achievable. From the front you would also get a big improvement. The nose bridge and mid-vault could be narrowed and the tip given more definition
Long-term swelling – Will my nose ever look like the photo my surgeon took straight af
On table vs final
Sep 7, 2022
Hi, the on table result and the final result will never look the same. On table there is zero scar tissue development and minimal oedema. Whilst over time the nasal tip tissue oedema/ swelling (that hits its peak at about 2 weeks after the cast comes off) gradually gets less scar tissue will always develop to some degree. As a result u will not ever get the same amount of definition as your on table photo. Steroid injection can help dissolve some of the excess scar tissue and also thins the…
I had a nose job where I think the nasal bones have been left too wide. How long would
Re-do osteotomy
Aug 28, 2022
You should wait at least 6 months. Although it seems simple it is likely the surgeon will need to create an open roof before doing the lateral osteotomies to narrow your bridge. So the process requires opening up the nose at least partially. As such you should wait for the soft tissues to heal
Rhinoplasty – Can the upper bridge be moved to center the nose between the eyes better
Straightening the nose
Aug 28, 2022
Good question. Yes the upper bridge can be straightened a bit. Where it is over on your right it can be moved over to the left by way of high transverse and radix osteotomies. In addition septoplasty and unilateral spreader grafts will help straighten the tip and midvault respectively
